Jordan SiegelJordan Siegel has worked at MIT’s Global Education & Career Development (GECD) for over ten years, currently serving as a Recruiting and Marketing Coordinator. As the recipient of the 2013 Excellence Award for Serving the Client, he is being honored for his consistent and exceptional service to students, employers and staff.

Siegel supports MIT’s on-campus recruiting activities for over 300 employers interested in hiring and providing internships for MIT students and graduates. Employers seek his help in scheduling interviews, making contact, and successfully recruiting MIT students. Not only is Siegel a problem-solver, but he is a relationship-builder. Peter Adornato, Team Captain for Campus Recruiting at ExxonMobil, notes that in the past eight years Siegel has provided wonderful support, acting as a “’go-to’ person for last-minute emergencies.” Siegel also works hard behind the scenes to make sure on-campus recruiting runs efficiently. His collaboration with CSO Research in implementing the CareerBridge invoicing system has saved over 300 hours of administrative work and was well-received by employers.

While he builds long-lasting positive relationships with employers, Siegel also works tirelessly to benefit MIT students. He not only puts them at ease with his friendly demeanor in the office, but he works systematically to ensure better services. Most recently Siegel worked with the student leaders at the 2012 Fall Career Fair to implement a new electronic check-in system for the 4000+ attendees. On the day of the fair, he went above and beyond expectations, remaining on hand to ensure that registration ran smoothly and fixing snags quickly, effectively, and with a smile.

At GECD, Siegel is known as a role model for customer service and an exemplary colleague. Melanie Parker, GECD Executive Director, describes him as “an incredible partner both externally and internally,” and Employer Relations Coordinator Alyssa Kavanagh writes that “Jordan is the first person I go to with a problem I cannot handle, confident that he will be able to assist me. As a colleague, he is very thoughtful, kind, and a joy to be around.”

In all his interactions with employers, students, staff, and faculty, Siegel is cheerful and resourceful. For his dedication and service at MIT, he is being duly recognized with the 2013 “Serving the Client” Excellence Award.
