2013 UROP ExpoHundreds of MIT undergraduates attended the third annual IAP UROP Expo on January 24th in Kresge Lobby to speak with faculty, staff and students about exciting UROP opportunities and projects being conducted across the Institute. Despite the extremely cold weather, approximately 300 students, most of whom were freshmen interested in conducting a UROP for the first time, dropped by the two-hour event.

The event, co-sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming (UAAP) and the Office of Minority Education (OME), aims to expose students with little or no research experience to a host of UROP opportunities from a wide variety of research areas and disciplines. Attendees spoke with representatives from departments such as Physics, Urban Studies & Planning, Management, Aeronautics & Astronautics, and the MIT Energy Initiative, as well as viewed posters, displays, devices, and other materials highlighting the breadth of current innovative UROP projects being carried out at MIT.
