Kim Benard and Kim Vandiver Receive Institute Awards for Service


Join the Institute in recognizing the service of Kim Benard and Kim Vandiver at the 2012 Institute Awards Convocation on Wednesday, May 9 at 4pm in Room 10-250.

Kim Benard, Assistant Director for Distinguished Fellowships in Global Education and Career Development,  has been chosen as the 2012 recipient of the Laya Wiesner Community Award. This award was established in 1999 to honor this former MIT First Lady’s legacy to the Institute. It recognizes “a member or friend of the MIT community for conspicuously effective service that reflects Laya’s concerns for enhancing life at the Institute and in the world at large.”

Professor J. Kim Vandiver, Director of the Office of Experiential Learning and Dean for Undergraduate Research, has been chosen as the 2012 recipient of the Gordon Y Billard Award. The Gordon Y Billard Award is made annually to “a member of the faculty, non-faculty employee or one not necessarily affiliated with the Institute, for special service of outstanding merit performed for the Institute.”
