Once again, Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) brought a record number of admitted students and their families to campus in April. Over 1,120 prefrosh and 900 family members came to immerse themselves in the unique MIT culture and learn about the Institute’s academic, research and community opportunities. ‘14s traveled from near and far to attend CPW, from just down the street to all the way from Brisbane, Australia!

The “CPW Weather Machine” was set to mild, with only one day of rain in an otherwise sunny spring weekend. Prefrosh and parents alike took advantage of the 650+ events sponsored by academic departments, student organizations and living groups. They all had the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students who represented a broad array of the disciplines and interests at MIT. The weekend begin with formal remarks from Chancellor Phillip Clay and featured faculty speakers Jonathan Gruber and Nancy Kanwisher; President Susan Hockfield, the Admissions staff, and several student performance groups gave a warm send-off on the final evening at the CPW Variety Show.

The Office of Admissions thanks the entire MIT community for supporting the planning and successful execution of CPW. We could not make this program run without the support and energy of MIT community members! Many thanks to President Hockfield; Chancellor Clay; Profs Jon Gruber, Nancy Kanwisher, Enectalí Figueroa-Feliciano, and Don Sadoway; Dean Kim Vandiver; DSL; and the Parent and Alumni Associations for their wonderful contributions.

While the entire community came out to support CPW, we especially want to call out our colleagues in DUE, DSO, GECDC, OME, SFS, and UAAP, who worked so hard to make this weekend such a positive one for our new students and their families.
