Looking Towards Orientation 2008

By Coleen Crawford, Staff Associate, New Student Programs, Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming

As another summer is fast approaching the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Programming is gearing up for the new class of 2012. We are expecting 1,057 bright-eyed freshmen that are eager and excited about beginning the new chapter in their lives at MIT. As an office we have hired 4 extremely motivated and energized coordinators to help plan the ins and outs of orientation.

This summer we are proud to announce that we have 18 Freshmen Pre-Orientation Programs, including a trip to Colorado Springs and two new departments, Brain and Cognitive Science and Urban Studies and Planning. We also hired 107 upperclass Orientation Leaders and have a new orientation blog to better connect the new freshmen to our office and our coordinators. We are ten weeks away from the first freshmen coming to MIT and we are anxiously waiting for Orientation 2008 to begin.
