DUE and DSL Joint Professional Development Program

By Anna Babbi Klein, Communications Office, DUE

During May and June, DUE and DSL held a two part professional development program in which 35 staff members from each organization participated. The focus of the program was help staff gain a better understanding of young adult development and student learning and then apply that knowledge to programs and initiatives in both DUE and DSL.

During the first session, Rae Simpson, Program Director, Parenting Education and Research and Co-Manager, Center for Work, Family and Personal Life, presented her findings from the Young Adult Development Initiative mentioned in the Holistic Theme article above. During the second session, the leaders of several programs presented how the knowledge they gained about young adult development and learning applied to their programs.

Plans are underway to expand this program to more of both DUE and DSL staff in the future.
